Our pattern is engineered to produce a symmetrical, two-part housing with perfectly aligned internal volute passages. The multi-segment core box creates the intricate internal hollowing required for the double-suction impeller pathways, ensuring balanced hydraulic forces and uniform wall thickness for high-pressure durability.

In a split-case pump, the two halves of the casting must meet perfectly to prevent water leakage under high pressure. Our pattern is CNC-machined to ensure the parting plane is perfectly flat, allowing for a metal-to-metal or gasket-sealed joint with minimal post-casting machining.
We use a Double-Suction Volute Core Box. This is a multi-part sand core that creates the hollow "Y-shaped" internal path where water enters from both sides. This core is held in place by heavy-duty "Core Prints" to prevent floating during the metal pour.
For very large pump housings (above 1 meter), Laminated Wood or Resin is preferred for its weight-to-strength ratio. For smaller, high-volume production, Aluminium patterns are better as they resist the wear and tear of automatic molding lines.
The main body pattern is often similar, but the mounting feet and bearing support bosses change. We use "Loose Pieces" or interchangeable inserts so you can cast both horizontal and vertical housings using the same master pattern.
Consistency depends on Core Setting. We provide precision "Setting Gauges" with the pattern. This allows the foundry to verify the gap between the core and the outer mold, ensuring the cast metal has a uniform thickness across the entire volute.
