Why is the internal core design so complex for this gearbox housing?

A windmill gearbox requires constant lubrication. The Core Box must create internal oil galleries and cooling channels within the casting. This reduces the need for external plumbing and ensures the gear system is always lubricated even in extreme cold or high-speed rotations.

How do you ensure the heavy gearbox casting doesn't have "Cold Shuts"?

We design the pattern with an Advanced Gating and Feeding System. By using multiple "Ingates" and strategically placed "Risers," we ensure the molten metal fills the entire 5-ton or 10-ton mold at a uniform temperature, preventing weak joints in the metal.

What material is used for the pattern surface to resist sand abrasion?

We use a High-Gloss Polyurethane (PU) Lacquer. This coating is extremely hard and smooth, which allows the pattern to be pulled out of the sand mold effortlessly while resisting the abrasive nature of silica or resin-coated sand.

Can this pattern be modified for a different gear ratio housing?

Yes. Our Modular Pattern Design allows us to use "Interchangeable Inserts" for the bearing seats and shaft exits. This means you can use the same main body pattern for different gearbox configurations, saving on total tooling costs.

We use Cross-Laminated Hardwood and internal steel reinforcements. This prevents the wood from "breathing" or warping due to changes in humidity on the foundry floor, ensuring the final casting always meets the design blueprint.
