The LC to LC Single Mode Duplex Fiber Optic Patch Cord is used for making optical fiber connections between single mode network equipment such as switches, servers, and SFP transceivers and single mode fiber optic patch panels, optical cross-connect distribution frames, and fiber outlets in data center, telecom, enterprise LAN, and structured cabling network installations requiring long-distance and high-bandwidth single mode fiber optic connectivity.
The key difference is the fiber type used. Single mode fiber uses a much smaller core diameter and supports significantly lower signal attenuation and higher bandwidth over much longer distances than multimode fiber, making single mode the preferred choice for long-distance inter-building, campus backbone, telecom access, and data center interconnect links. Single mode patch cords use a yellow jacket while multimode patch cords use an orange jacket for easy visual identification.
Duplex means the patch cord contains two individual single mode fiber strands in a single cable assembly providing two simultaneous optical transmission paths for full-duplex bidirectional fiber optic communication, with one fiber carrying the transmit signal and the other carrying the receive signal simultaneously between the connected network devices for standard full-duplex fiber optic network link operation.
The LC to LC single mode duplex patch cord is compatible with single mode SFP, SFP+, and XFP transceiver ports on network switches, routers, servers, and optical transmission equipment, single mode LC adapter fiber optic patch panels, optical cross-connect and WDM distribution frames, and single mode LC fiber optic wall outlets in structured cabling installations.
