Standard fittings often have rough internal surfaces and loose thread tolerances. For a nozzle to work correctly, the fluid must enter it without turbulence. A precision-machined coupling ensures the flow is smooth and the nozzle is perfectly centered, which prevents "lopsided" spray patterns.

What is the benefit of "Lapped" sealing faces?

Lapping makes the metal surface so flat that it can often seal against another surface without the need for a gasket. This is a mechanical necessity in high-temperature applications where rubber O-rings would melt or in chemical systems where gaskets would dissolve.

Can these couplings handle "Abrasive" fluids?

If the fluid contains particles (like ceramic slurries or metallic paints), we recommend manufacturing the coupling from Hardened Tool Steel or SS 440C. We can also apply a Tungsten Carbide coating to the internal flow path to prevent erosion.
