Other Details

There are two types of pile yarn: a fibrillated “web yarn” and a monofilament yarn.

The fibrillated pile yarn is first cut into an approximately 10-15 mm wide tape which is then slit or fibrillated. The top of the yarn opens up when the infill material is added and when the field is in use.

A monofilament yarn is made of single fibres twisted together.

Fibrillated

Description:A film is cut into tapes which are then fibrillated and twisted into a yarn.

Properties:The filaments of the yarn open when the turf is used and give the field a natural green colour.

Playing charasteristics(football):The rolling of ball gets longer with the aging of the field. This charasteristic is accentuated with lack of proper maintenance

Infill material:The infill material stays well inside the turf.

Strength:Max 130 microns

Monofilament

Description:Single fibres are joined by entwining them together or with the help of a separate support yarn.

Properties:Can be manufactured in different shapes to improve the qualities of the yarn.

Playing charasteristics(football):The field keeps its ball rolling charasteristics well.

Infill material:With age, the infill material may “bounce” out from the grass more easily. The infill does not compact over time.

Strength:180-350 microns.
