NTC thermistors are metal oxide semiconductors that decrease in resistance at temperature increases and are normally used as temperature sensing elements in a wide range of applications. NTC thermistors have a well-defined resistance versus temperature characteristic and are very sensitive to even the smallest temperature change.

PTC thermistors are ceramic semiconductors with a switching characteristic, which is a very steep resistance versus temperature characteristic near their switch temperature. Spectrum Sensors can provide a custom solution to a range of applications at a low cost with an extremely reliable product by adjusting a range of the electrical and mechanical parameters of the ceramic element.
