Sand and casting cooling drums are engineered to cool return sand and castings simultaneously in modern foundry operations. Poured moulds are transferred from shakeout to the drum through a vibrating conveyor. Cooling is achieved through controlled evaporation of residual sand moisture and conditioned water addition based on incoming temperature. A suction and filtration system removes vapour and fines generated during the process. Continuous rolling inside the drum improves castings cleaning, aids core emptying, and homogenizes return sand, reducing mull time. At the end of the process, cooled sand and castings are separated through a screening system, enabling efficient handling and improved foundry productivity.
