Aloe vera is a species of succulent plant that probably originated in northern Africa. It belongs to the genus Aloe and family Xanthorrhoeaceae.The species is frequently cited as being used in herbal medicine since the beginning of the first century AD. Aloe gel has been used for topical treatment of wounds, minor burns, and skin irritations. Aloe gel is alleged to be useful for dry skin conditions, especially eczema around the eyes and sensitive facial skin. Externally Aloe vera gel is helpful for abrasions, acne, boils, inflamed eyes, wrinkles. It has tremendous moisturizing effect on the skin.
