Benzoic acid is an important precursor for the synthesis of many other commercially useful organic substances. It is primarily used in manufacturing of alkyd resins, phenol, sodium benzoate, benzoyl cloride & other organic benzoates. Sodium benzoate is widely used in fast food industry as a preservative.
