Chawk is a also naturally occurring calcium carbonate. The difference is that it exists in amorphous form where as calcite exists in crystalline form. Its amorphous form gives tremendous suspending powder in coating. However, the draw back of the powder is its cream off white color.

Chemical Formula: CacO3, MgCO3, CaMg (CO3)2.

Calcium Carbonate Min. 80%.

Physical Properties: Chemical Composition:

  • Sp. Gravity : 2.7 to 2.9 CaCO3 97.0%.
  • Bulk density : 1.5 SiO2 1.10%.
  • PH of 10% solution : 8.5.
  • Oil absorption value : 13 to 20.
  • Refractive index : 1.52.
  • Moisture and volatile matter : 0.5 to 1% max.
