Other Details

Enhanced External Counter Pulsation is a special treatment for patients with symptoms of ischemia and angina (chest pain due to an inadequate supply of oxygen to the heart muscle). The treatment is also found to be useful in improving exercise tolerance and decreasing the degree of ischemia in a cardiac stress test. It is a non-invasive, outpatient treatment, which is very effective in relieving angina by improving perfusion in areas of the heart, which is deprived of adequate blood supply. The EECP works on the following principal:

A special device inflates and deflates a series of compressive cuffs, which is wrapped around the calves and lower & upper thighs
Based on the principle of counter pulsation
