Do not run away from the problem,

Manage it

Take one of the most serious problems of our time: the waste disposal. Most of the people most of the time try to run away from the waste they produce. But it comes back to them in the form of a bigger & more hazardous problem. However, at Sintex we believe that the best way to deal with it is to manage it. In the past, the disposal of waste did not pose significant problem as the population was small and vast expanses of land were available for the assimilation of wastes. But today, when urban India (which constitutes 25% of nation's total population) produces 390Lakh MT garbage per day, we have to give a proper thought to a. Management of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) resulting from rapid urbanization has become a serious concern for the authorities everywhere. Hence the need for integrated waste management. It improves the poor practices of managing the waste. It is a multi-disciplinary approach for embracing the waste collection, transfer, haulage and disposal. And its impact is wide. In India, collection, segregation, storage, transportation and disposal of solid waste are unscientific and chaotic. Uncontrolled dumping of wastes on the outskirts of towns and cities has created overflowing landfills, which are not only impossible to reclaim because of the haphazard manner of dumping, but also have serious environmental implications in terms of ground water pollution and contribution to global warming. Moreover, burning of waste leads to loss in huge revenues to the government in addition to air pollution in terms of increased TSP and PM10 emissions, which is equivalent to vehicular emissions at times.
