The equipment consists of Auto Start MARUTHI /AMBASSADOR Multi Cylinder Petrol Engine (Brand new) which is Water cooled. The Engine is coupled to a Loading Dynamometer* for Loading purposes. The coupling is done by an extension shaft in a separate bearing house. The engine is provided with a Fuel cut-off mechanism for MORSE TEST. A specially fabricated Exhaust gas calorimeter is provided for measuring the energy carried away by the exhaust gases. The Calorimeter is completely insulated by means of Mica sheet and Asbestos rope for better efficiency. Thermocouples are provided at appropriate positions and is read by a digital temperature indicator with channel selector. Rotameters of specific range is used for direct measurement of water flow rate to the engine and calorimeter. The Engine Speed and the load applied at various conditions is determined by a Digital RPM Indicator and Load indicator**. A separate air box with orifice assembly is provided for regularising and measuring the flow rate of air. The pressure difference is measured by means of an ACRYLIC Manometer. A Volumetric Pipette with a fuel distributor is provided for measurement and directing the fuel to the engine respectively. The testing arrangement is mounted on an aesthetically designed self sustained sturdy frame made of MS channels with anti vibration mounts. The test rig comes with a separate control panel made of NOVAPAN board and houses all the indicators, Dashboard accessories and necessary instrumentations at appropriate positions.
