Such engines produce the cold air that is required for operating plants. At first the high-pressure air passes the inlet valve to expand the downward stroke of the piston. This expanded air is then pushed out through the upward stroke outlet valve. To start the engine, electric motor is used that is moved by the air pressure, which cools the air. The cooling is more as compared to the expansion valves. Moreover, the temperature drop in this engine is 50°C to 70°C, which is in accordance with the air pressure, temperature and inlet cam position.
