Tarachand Amanmal Athwani was a famous sweet merchant in Pakistan. The Partition of India and Pakistan forced the mithaiwala to leave his flourishing business behind and migrate to India in 1947.The Athwani family took shelter at the refugee camp in Pimpri then, from there they came to Pune and established their original business under the name of Karachi Sweet Mart in 1948.

Taking the traditional family business ahead, Kishinchand Tarachand Athwani started Karachi Sweet Mart at Sachapir Street, M.G.Road and more recently at Fatima Nagar. Today, Karachi Sweet Mart is a household name for lip-smacking sweets and savories.
