The cooler works on the basis of blower air trough a columns of hot and moist pellet and in the process evaporating the moisture leading to cooling.

 

The capacity of the air, the column of pellets and the residence time will direct the cooling effect. It is essential to cool the pellets to the core and not only on the surface. The counter current cooler is a cooler where the air current is "counter" or opposite to the direction of flow of pellets.
