Plant Feasibility Studies

IMO carries out plant feasibility studies to meet Client’s needs. Feasibility studies can be as varied as evaluating a new site for environmental and planning conditions to looking at a complete new project including the product quality to meet the market needs and the effects of differing product grades on the economics and profitability of the proposed investment.

In some cases we have been given a raw material specification and asked ‘what can we get from this raw material?’.

This can be very challenging and often will involve laboratory testing and sometimes requires building a pilot plant to prove both the economics and the ability to carry out industrially what has been proved in the laboratory. 

 During feasibility study, the Client’s business needs are analyzed, information about project participants is collected, and the requirements for the system are gathered and analyzed. The client’s expectations for system implementation are studied and the proposed solution is offered. During the Feasibility Study stage, the project’s objectives, parameters and 

limitations are agreed upon with the client including:

• Project budget and rules for its adjustment;
• Project time schedule;
• Conceptual problem solution.
•  During this stage, the following missions are performed:
• The project feasibility is estimated and the project scope is defined;
• Risks and benefits are identified;
• The project structure is explained;
• The project is roughly planned;
• The subsequent project stage is planned precisely;
• Cost of the next phase is evaluated precisely
• System creation risks are estimated.

At the end of this phase the following documents are available:

Feasibility Report -  Description of the proposed solution and list of high-level functional requirements;

Project Structure -   Description of the project organization;

Project Plan -          Project schedule;

Risks List -              List of potential project risks and possibilities of their elimination.
