Technical Specifications

Material
An accurate, neutral definition of all the separate materials, such as outer and lining fabrics, forms a key element in the Technical Specifications. This includes, for example, defining the textile fibres, the design features, weight per unit area etc.

Components
A detailed description of the fastenings, labels and linings, including their size, shape and in some cases the materials, is also included in the Technical Specifications.

Fitness for use
Depending on its intended area of use, the specifications for a product's fitness for use will also vary greatly. In addition to general requirements, for example about testing for harmful substances, ease of care and how hard-wearing a garment is, in some cases specific other issues may be addressed. These may include physiological wearing comfort, i.e. heat and moisture management, UV protection, antimicrobial or antistatic treatments, IR absorption and dirt resistance.
