ISO 14001:2004 specify the set of standards and requirements for organization for designing and implementing an effective environmental management system. It enables the organizations to design and execute policies and objectives which taking into account legal and other prevalent requirements and information about significant environmental aspects. Its main purpose is to provide guidance for introducing and adopting environmental management systems based on the best universal practices.
