The Rope Gripper is an overspend preventing device to protect passengers from danger and injuries caused by an elevator over speed by any failure of the elevator brake controlling system, the brake of parts controlling the car speed in the up and down directions. If an ascending or descending elevator over speed suddenly or when the car leaves the floor with the doors opened due to a trouble with the traction sheave or slipped ropes, the rope gripper stops the elevator safely clamping main ropes.
