Gemology Course

Additional Details

In this course students are taught the scientific study of gems, wherein they are taught the formation, physical properties, and identification of different types of gems. The above specified knowledge are prerequisite for those dealing in trading and dealing of precious gems. It can also be studied by anyone who has a fascination for gems and precious stones. The basic outline of the course is as follows:
 

• Students are acquainted with different kinds of gems and their various physical properties and terminologies
• They are taught to use weight and measures appropriate for various types of gemstones
• They learn how to discriminate different types and causes of optical phenomena in gemstones and recognize the cut grading criteria and terminologies used for colored stones and diamonds
• Relevant tools and techniques involved in gem fashioning processes are demonstrated to them
• Traditional and modern types of gemstone enhancement processes are introduced to them.
• They are exposed to historical and modern types of synthetic and simulant gemstones
• Duaration of cources.
• For two months.
• For seven days as a crash cource.
• Students will be given the certificate of being a qualified diamond grader and gemologist.
