Hydrogen generators with ammonia cracking are catalytic cracking units in which ammonia (NH3) is dissociated from hydrogen and nitrogen gas.

Ammonia of refrigerant quality comes from the cylinder or storage tank is used as feed. The gas product contains 75% hydrogen and 25% nitrogen; This gas is then purified in a Molecular Sieves unit by removing uncracked ammonia and moisture.
